Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay – The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay is a regional nonprofit organization that builds and fosters partnerships to protect and to restore the Bay and its rivers.
Center for Watershed Protection – The Center for Watershed Protection works in numerous communities to provide the solutions for clean water and healthy natural resources based on sound scientific research. The CWP is committed to promoting the widespread implementation of the most effective watershed management techniques.
Chesapeake Bay Foundation – The CBF is an independent 501(c)(3) organization dedicated solely to restoring and protecting the Chesapeake Bay and its tributary rivers.
Virginia Dept. of Environmental Quality (DEQ) – Water Programs – DEQ’s two Water Divisions (Water Permitting and Water Planning) are responsible for carrying out the mandates of the State Water Control Law, as well as meeting Virginia’s federal obligations under the Clean Water Act.
The James River Association provides a voice for the river and take action to promote conservation and responsible stewardship of its natural resources through its core programs: Watershed Restoration; Education, Outreach; River Advocacy; and their Riverkeeper program.

Rivanna Conservation Alliance (RCA) – The RCA was established on January 1, 2016, through a merger between the Rivanna Conservation Society and StreamWatch (water quality monitoring). The RCA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit watershed organization created to provide the community with a set of tools and programs specifically designed to help clean and protect the Rivanna River and its tributaries.
Rivanna River Corridor Plan – The Rivanna River Corridor Plan, coordinated through the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commssion, is a joint effort between the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County, along with other stakeholders, to develop a vision and action plan for the Rivanna River.
Rivanna Trails Foundation – volunteers build & maintain hiking trails along streams.
